Hi, I’m Rabbi Art! I am passionate about helping all couples create a unique ceremony for their special day and life together. Co-creating inclusive and welcoming celebrations for all couples, especially those with diverse faiths and backgrounds is so important today. I am ready, willing, and able to help!
I have more than 30 years of dedicated congregational, community and campus experience co-creating Jewish, interfaith, co-officiation with non-Jewish clergy, LGBTQ, non-denominational, and secular wedding celebrations.
As an open-minded, open-hearted rabbi, social worker and educator, I have walked many paths. My goal is to help you realize the most meaningful and joyful wedding experience.
Up close and personal:
A native of New Jersey, I have lived up and down the East Coast - New York, North Carolina and Florida. For the past 24 years, I have joyously resided in the greater Pittsburgh community. I was ordained as a reform rabbi in 1989 after graduating from the New York campus of the Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). In 2014, I received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from HUC-JIR. In addition, I hold a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Yedidya Institute. I am currently a member of the Aleph: Jewish Renewal Rabbinic Association.
I have served communities in Brooklyn, NY, North Miami Beach, FL, and the greater Pittsburgh area including 16 years as the rabbi and educator of Temple Ohav Shalom in the North Hills. I was the Executive Director and Rabbi with Hillel - the Jewish University Center in Oakland, from 1993 - 1997, serving the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Chatham University, and Duquesne University.
In June 2017, I completed a 3-year fellowship, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health. Currently, I work as a Mobile Mental Health Therapist in the Greater Pittsburgh community.
I welcome all inquiries for wedding, anniversary, and vow renewal celebrations - this is a no judgement zone!
